Gia Fragalli

Gia Fragalli è un jewelry designer alle prime armi ma molto decisa e con obiettivi ben chiari presenta una collezione di gioielli in argento interamente realizzati a mano.

Get Your Hands Dirty!
MAKING METAL JEWELRY IN DUMBO
“I play with metal. I like taking a piece of metal and turning it into something – a bracelet, a ring, an earring, or a bookmark, or something that’s wearable or usable, in a sense.”
So the whole idea of Gia is that she’s the modern girl that goes out to work, then to dinner, then to a party, and then she goes back to work the next day with the same clothes but feeling awesome, not skipping two beats about it – she’s just great.
I think I’m just inspired by breathing.
Introducing Gia
Yeyyyy!!! we are very excited together we came up with the concept for the the shoot.
Gia Fragalli started officially last July with the beads, stones and wires, because we didnt have a studio we were very limited to what kind of jewelry we could produce. the former "Wire me Madly" collection is now being dubbed as Audrey because it's delicate and feminine. It's classic and the embodiment of "woman". My inspiration for this collection was the Classic look of what they called then "a modern woman", and I believe Audrey is exactly that!
The Uno Collection woll now be called GIA as the namesake collection. Uno was designed 3 years ago in Brazil after I returned from Europe. Gia is the Modern everyday Girl who gets up in the morning and heads to work, going on meetings, lunches and happy hours, then she struts out of the bathroom with her hair down her eyes smokey and a couple of buttons undone on her shirt, looking flawless, she heads to her date, or dinner with friends, either way Gia is a Gotham Gal, a Cosmopolitan with an edge. She will look great all night and will not look like she is doing the "Walk of Shame" in the morning.
And then we come to Ivy, is the last collection I designed. A mix of all the metals I like to work with: copper, nickle, brass, silver and 14kt goldfill, sometimes 2 tone pieces other times all metals mixed in. Ivy has a little more punk rock feel, she's a tough cookie, but very relaxed and urban at the same time
I can't wait to do the photoshoot!
Gia & Chak Chel
Last year during the "OFF" Fashion Week event Gia Fragalli participated, I met the girls from Chak Chel, Yen and Saudia, they make these amazing handbags. Through that we came to working together on their next line.
My friend Cristina Dias, another jewelry designer that I called in for the Chak Chel's Handles. Yen and Saudia came to me in November but it was impossible for me to take them on on then, and we talked again in the beggining of the year and they were still interested in having Gia Fragalli involved in the project, so I happilly accepted!
This week Cristinal scupled the width of the handle, I will work on testures tomorrow, and the resin shoyl be back in 2 weeks! cant wait to see it!
Banging Anna Sheffield
Yes, i know you ythought this was going to be a DIRRRTY post huh!
For the one's that know me, knows I LOOOVE to "BANG" on metal... I guess all silversmiths do. So much so that for Valentine's Day my mom made me the cutest bracelet that says "HAPPINESS IS BANG BANG DUMBO".
Last week my friend Blondi came by and I totally banged out a very cool bracelet for her. She has very small wrists, but we wanted a bracelet that would reflect her, so I chose a 4mm Rond Wire and I wanted to be textured on the front, square on top, rounded off the sides, then very slick on the inside. To achieve that I needed to bang the crap out of the metal so it could take the shape I was looking for.
I litteraly *banged* the crap out of thiose braselets... so much theat my chest became all bruised from holding the madril on my chest... the Vise has been removed from it's iriginal home and not yet bolted down...
Big Bang with BING BANG!
Hello everyone!
I have great news!
I was just offered an internship for Anna Sheffield! I'm so excited!
Anna is an amazing Jewelry Designer here in NYC, with a costume design and metalsmith background.
Bing Bang is her "Street" collection, which is what I am hoping UNO will become. I am looking foward to this new phase, and I feel truly inspired by her. Her studio is amazing, and the girls that I will be working with make her team a pleasure to spend the day with!
If you want to know more about Anna Sheffield and her jewelry just follow the link.

Wire me Up!
I love these! They are so much fun to make!
I got this idea one day when I was watching a friend who is a fashion designer unroll the thread of a thick barrel onto a smaller barrel that would go into his sewing machine... but his barrel was too thin for me to try it on my finger, so I decided to make my own sewing barrel!
These can be great looking "Commit Bands" and you can choose the metals you'd like.
The Silver/ Silver combination looks really nice when the wire around the ring is oxidized!
*This is a Handmade item that will take 2-3 weeks for delivery
Prices upon request
UNO Flat
ToneDaft
Ok I confess! I love creating from scraps!
I really love the color of Brass, the color that it leaves my finger... not so much!
So I found a piece of Silver, and one of Brass and decided to solder one onto the other, that way I can totally appreciate the color of the Brass on the outside, while not having a green strip on my finger!
Best of both worlds of Metal!
This can be mixed with any two metals like:
Gold
Cooper
Nickel
$180
This is a Handmade Item and I will need 2- 3 weeks for delivery
Spoken Words
The other day I found a piece of scrap metal laying around the bench from a project that i had just finished, it wasn't long enough for a ring, but since I spent so much time putting it through the rolling mil, straightening and filing I wanted to use it.
So I put it through the jig-saw and started mindlessly cutting it into smaller pieces, I looked around and found my letter stamps. Felling very happy with the outcome, I stamped out on one side "LUCKY" and on 3 of the others "DAY".
This was so fun to make, I didnt hesitate in grabbing more metal and doing the whole rolling mill process again!
And there you go!
$55
I can custom make anything you want to say, and pread the letters in one letter each or just one with the whole word- It's your pick!

Our History and Story
I am a daughter of jewelery designers when the proper denomination was gold and silversmith, or jeweler. I grew up around gold and diamonds, and was never very interested in all that my parents were doing.
Working as a film producer for 12 years took me all over the world. I returned to São Paulo for 6 years, then lived in London for another 2 years.
The Uno Collection was conceptualized 3 years ago when I was still living in São Paulo and Gia Fragalli was only a fragment of our imagination.
Only 3 years later and Gia Fragalli became real, with a beautiful collection, physical address, online store and fashion shows to boot!

Untapped Fashion & Music
September 15, 2009
Fashionistas and trendsetters are always trying to find the next best thing, so where better to find it than with up-and-coming emerging designers and musicians? Untapped Fashion & Music took place this past Saturday, September 12th, 2009 and was a huge success! Jordana of Jordana PR flawlessly executed a great event, overcoming the great challenges of having to collaborate with so many different people and designers, bringing in socialites, press, and sponsors!
Held at the Inc Lounge of the Time Hotel, various designers, musicians, and artists were all showcasing their diverse talents while having a great time socializing with guests. Models walk around venue throughout course of event with the designers’ creations, and two unsigned bands, The Frontline and Vine House (who appropriately called the event “fashiontastic”) performed a few of their hit songs. Locally renowned DJ Hunter Laine spun house music throughout the night for people to dance to.
The official liquor sponsor of event was Sagatiba Rum, a Brazilian sugar cane rum where we could try two specialty cocktails, caipirinhas and their creative invention, the Bikini Martini, a passion fruit medley. Other sponsors included: Starlite Shoes & Accessories, Eric & Luck, and JPR of the Fashion & Lifestyle Directory.
A rep from Scallywag said of the event, “A splendid mix of fashion, music and impressive untapped talent.” Amongst other guests were past contestants from America’s Next Top Model and VH1’s Viva Hollywood, as well as one of the top (4) male models from Brazil, Yuri Campos. Yowww!!
Having to collaborate with others is always a challenge, but the designers and participants only had positive things to say. Jewelry designer Tammy Gia exclaimed, “The event was great! We were ecstatic.. It was incredible to see the entire thing put together” Designer Leila Shams quipped in that the event “had a very friendly, laid back vibe. the models were really cute and enthusiastic and really worked the looks for photographers. It was great to meet other new designers, I may do a collaboration in the future. Also, I met an actress who loved my dresses and asked if she could wear one to the VMA’s the next day! She tried on her favorite and it looked amazing, we were both thrilled.” A match made in heaven!
Designers showcased at the event included:
Chak Chel – one of a kind handbag designers in NYC – bags are made from vintage bag materials compiled into one! *see attachment – they created a post release of event*
Leila Shams - gorgeous dress designer in NYC
Gia Fragalli - Contemporary silver jewelry from a Brazilian designer in NYC
Debra Cortese – Artist from Miami who extracts her paintings unto handbags and each painting signifies something – see link below
Aqua Vi – Up and Coming designer from Los Angeles – worn by Nick “Jessica Simpson’s ex husband” and others
JR Yates – Men’s contemporary.fashionable jewelry from Los Angeles
Ben Ric Furs - Largest individually owned fur business in NY with many private celebrity clients

Fashion Week here in New York is just about to wrap up. But fear not! Untapped Fashion & Music is making their way to Miami on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009! Make your way south to warmer weather.
Yours,
Von
