September 23^rd, 09’ – Miami Beach, FL - Untapped Fashion & Music, is a project which was conceptualized by Jordana of Jordana PR International; to get designers & musicians world-wide the recognition deserved, during the biggest event of the year in most metro cities – Fashion Week! The event was created in order to help the fashion & entertainment industry throughout the economic crisis our country is currently facing, as Jordana is hoping this event will become a world-wide movement. The inauguration was executed in New York City on September 12^th, 09’ during Fashion Week, and created a huge splash! With it being such a success; Miami had to be next!

The inauguration event was held at the Inc Lounge in the Time Hotel on W. 49^th Street, NYC, with an after party which took place in the nationally acclaimed “Greenhouse”. Celebrities in attendance included Isaac Mizrahi, Whitney from MTV’s hit television series “The City”, amongst many others!

Untapped Fashion & Music, Miami 09, will take place on October 20^th, 09’. Part of proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month as we will be honoring FAVALA – an unbelievable fashion designer who was diagnosed with the disease about one year ago and is still fighting! Sponsors will include: JSAK Snowboarding (Just Snowboarding Ambitious Kids) – a not for profit organization assembled by Jesse Csincsak – professional snowboarder & past winner of ABC’s hit television series – The Bachelorette. The mission of JSAK is to help snowboarders with Olympic aspirations raise money for training, travel and related expenses; so that they may reach their snowboarding and life goals.

In this event, editors from local & national press *both broadcast and print* and numerous celebrity guests, will get a first peek at new collection by unbelievably talented designers, while listening to music from unsigned & talented musicians. Designers will be showcased by high fashion models, as they strut the pieces around venue. Guests will enjoy sounds by world-renowned, DJ Yoshi; who has worked with Pepsi, NBA, Rutgers Football, So So Def, etc.

Our History and Story

Gia Fragalli is a seed that has been growing for a long, long time.

I am a daughter of jewelery designers when the proper denomination was gold and silversmith, or jeweler. I grew up around gold and diamonds, and was never very interested in all that my parents were doing.

Working as a film producer for 12 years took me all over the world. I returned to São Paulo for 6 years, then lived in London for another 2 years.

The Uno Collection was conceptualized 3 years ago when I was still living in São Paulo and Gia Fragalli was only a fragment of our imagination.

Only 3 years later and Gia Fragalli became real, with a beautiful collection, physical address, online store and fashion shows to boot!

Untapped Fashion & Music

Fashionistas and trendsetters are always trying to find the next best thing, so where better to find it than with up-and-coming emerging designers and musicians? Untapped Fashion & Music took place this past Saturday, September 12th, 2009 and was a huge success! Jordana of Jordana PR flawlessly executed a great event, overcoming the great challenges of having to collaborate with so many different people and designers, bringing in socialites, press, and sponsors!

Held at the Inc Lounge of the Time Hotel, various designers, musicians, and artists were all showcasing their diverse talents while having a great time socializing with guests. Models walk around venue throughout course of event with the designers’ creations, and two unsigned bands, The Frontline and Vine House (who appropriately called the event “fashiontastic”) performed a few of their hit songs. Locally renowned DJ Hunter Laine spun house music throughout the night for people to dance to.

The official liquor sponsor of event was Sagatiba Rum, a Brazilian sugar cane rum where we could try two specialty cocktails, caipirinhas and their creative invention, the Bikini Martini, a passion fruit medley. Other sponsors included: Starlite Shoes & Accessories, Eric & Luck, and JPR of the Fashion & Lifestyle Directory.

A rep from Scallywag said of the event, “A splendid mix of fashion, music and impressive untapped talent.” Amongst other guests were past contestants from America’s Next Top Model and VH1’s Viva Hollywood, as well as one of the top (4) male models from Brazil, Yuri Campos. Yowww!!

Having to collaborate with others is always a challenge, but the designers and participants only had positive things to say. Jewelry designer Tammy Gia exclaimed, “The event was great! We were ecstatic.. It was incredible to see the entire thing put together” Designer Leila Shams quipped in that the event “had a very friendly, laid back vibe. the models were really cute and enthusiastic and really worked the looks for photographers. It was great to meet other new designers, I may do a collaboration in the future. Also, I met an actress who loved my dresses and asked if she could wear one to the VMA’s the next day! She tried on her favorite and it looked amazing, we were both thrilled.” A match made in heaven!

Fashion Week here in New York is just about to wrap up. But fear not! Untapped Fashion & Music is making their way to Miami on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009! Make your way south to warmer weather.

The event was great!!!

I had 5 models strutting their stuff and wearing my stuff!
There were some great designers there like Chak Chel with the most amazing purses and handbags a girl can desire! Oh! and a beautiful man bag that even smelled like a gorgeous man and worn by even more gorgeous man, Brazilian top model Yuri Campos *fiu fiuuuuu***** Who by the way was just the sweetest!

This was a night to mingle and chat, I had a lot of fun and so did mom! We are seeing little sprouts come up from all our work!

Meeting Christopher ( from christopherjovan.com) was a blast, and there may be something that we can do together in the future. Christopher is a fashion designer that has a thing for double finger rings... so keep a close watch to see what we come up with. Christopher was accompanying Alissa from Scallywag and Vagabond.

Jordana did a great job putting together this whole thing with so many different styles and personalities. She really has a knack for finding "untapped talent"!

I looooved the dresses by Leila!! I'm not much of a "print" girl, but these were amazing! my favorite is the one that was short in front and long in the back, the print on the back was the tiger's face and as the model walked the flowy material opened up and revealed the tiger! AMAZING!!!!!

Cortese Design Bags at New York Fashion Week event

“White Orchids Swaying Ferns” (shown above), ”Blue Tango” and “Fuschia” Tote Bags by Cortese Designs are partying in New York at the Inc Lounge in the Time Hotel on West 49th Street. They’re part of the “Untapped Fashion & Music - NYC 09″ event which happens tonight between 8 to 11 pm.
After that, they are off to a NY after-party at Greenhouse. (Lucky bags!)

Celebrity guests will be in attendance including Isaac Mizrahi, Real Housewives of New York and New Jersey, MTV’s Real World contestants, America’s Next Top Model contestants, Malan Breton of Project Runway, Kristen Dalton - Miss USA.

Designers showcased will include: Aqua Vi, Gia Fragalli, Chak Chel, Debra Cortese, Peony by Sheerly Novian, and many others.

Once again, Jordana Engholm of Jordana PR has gone above and beyond the usual to create this innovative, intimate club event to promote the work of emerging fashion designers and musicians.
